  • Best thing

Amazing team, really nice atmosphere and regular customers that you get to know. Balloons are also fun to design and make! Uniform is relatively relaxed, you can choose your shoes and bottoms as long as they’re black and suitable (eg closed toe, full length).

    Worst thing

First few weeks your hours will match the contract, and then your hours will increase, for example I was on a 12 hour contract but was given up to 30 hours of work per week without prior consultation. Employers are coming in and out, so there’s new staff quite often which can add stress when trying to complete both your tasks and supervise their tasks. Also means you have to pick up leavers shifts with short notice. Minimum wage isn’t great, and is one of the reasons I left.

    6.4

Sales assistant at The Original Factory Shop, June 2023

  • Best thing

Before we found out the store was closing down it was a fun place to work. The team got on and it was a laugh whilst we were getting the job done

    Worst thing

Area Managers and above keep the Stores in the dark on most things. Head Office do their best to make sure a store doesn't succeed, actively stopping a store from getting the stock they would sell. They also do allow access to P&L reports which are majorly important for management teams to be successful

  • Best thing

I get to have a laugh with members of staff and I like the department I’m in (home and electrics) which I put stock out for and keep that bit tidy

    Worst thing

Having nothing to do. Once delivery is all out and I’ve hooves etc and tidied always struggling to find stuff to do. Especially on a Sunday, as the delivery isn’t in until the Monday so literally do nothing
