Job description from The Entertainer
Why Us?
When you join us as a Supervisor at The Entertainer, Chatham, The Pentagon Shopping Centre you will be a role model for our Sales Assistants and will support the management team in a busy store with key holder responsibilities. You will be an integral support to your management team in the daily running of the store, showing your managers what you’re all about when running the store independently to cover days off, holidays and when they are off site on Tesco store visits.
Every day is different, and we’ll be honest, you will be on your feet for most of the time! Whether that be receiving deliveries, merchandising the latest best sellers, providing excellent customer service or using your newly found toy expertise to recommend the perfect product – this job is demanding!
You will have the opportunity to make a real difference with your colleagues too, playing an important role in coaching and motivating the team to help them achieve the best they can in both their personal development and helping the store deliver exceptional store standards and customer service.
With those demands, come rewards, and this is the ideal position for anyone who is looking for the next step in their career. You will learn all about the way we work and with a comprehensive online training package and support, your Entertainer career in management can take you anywhere you want it to!
As a 20 hour Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Opening and closing the store, running the store successfully in the absence of the Store management
- Organising and supervising of daily tasks
- Demonstrating an exceptional customer service experience, inspiring your team to do the same
- Maintaining stock areas, controlling faulty goods and handling deliveries
What we will need from you
- Have a flexible approach to working hours and a commitment to help us resource the store effectively
- Be enthusiastic about your retail career having had valuable supervisory experience or gained extra responsibilities in a Sales Assistant role within a fast-paced retail environment.
- Be tech savvy, showing confidence in using computers and tablets to complete tasks and increase productivity
- Have the ability to identify sales opportunities and implement new ideas, showcasing your creative and commercial flair
On a 20-hour contract, you will be working 4-hour shifts over 5 days. Having a flexible approach and a commitment to help the store operate, it is key that you are able to work these shift patterns, as well as being available to take on overtime when it is required. This might include working hours at any time of the day, perhaps even outside of our normal trading hours opening and closing the store at times, especially at Christmas and in the school holidays. These are some of our busiest times, but remember, our stores are closed on Sundays, so you will always have this as a day off to spend with friends and family.
How you will be rewarded
We are proud to offer many amazing benefits to our Supervisors including:
-Flexible access to your pay via MyView PayNow
-Birthday Leave plus 30 days holiday
-Generous Entertainer store toy discount
-High Street and leisure discounts

What our Supervisors say
"I love working at the Entertainer as no two days are the same. A typical day in the life of a Supervisor would include managing deliveries, merchandising, pricing and finally (and most importantly!) providing excellent customer service to every customer. Interacting with children via our steps at till the point or allowing them to play with us through instore demonstrations is what makes us unique and makes my role so enjoyable. Seeing children leave with a smile on their face and making memories they will take with them when growing up makes for happy, returning customers. We are all one big family at The Entertainer with just one mission to be 'the best loved toyshop'."
We reserve the right to close this vacancy before the published closing date, should we receive sufficient applications for the role, thank you.
