Overview

You'll be at the core of Screwfix, making sure our customers are the heart of everything we do. You'll take your time to really get to know them whilst delivering genuinely great service. Our Retail Assistants are vital to the running of a store, so you'll always be kept busy. And with the help of our excellent training programmes and varied shift patterns to support a healthy work life balance, you'll be on the right track for a promising career with us!

Opening hours:

Monday - Friday (7am to 8pm)

Saturday (7am to 6pm)

Sunday (9am to 4pm)

Responsibilities

WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE A RETAIL ASSISTANT?
  • Host - you'll welcome customers into your store, understand what they need, guide them to the right products, and make it super easy for them
  • Warehouse standards - you'll assist with deliveries, maintaining product stock, collecting customer orders and keeping standards high
  • Part of the team - you'll join a team who take pride in their store, work together and have lots of fun along the way!

    The jobs a lot of fun, you get to learn about things while working and most of the customers are really lovely and just want a hand with DIY projects or finding what size their screws are. Nice environment to work in.

    Some customers can be difficult because they don't really understand that you don't know everything. I've had a couple customers cross boundaries and when I told my mangers that didn't really do anything about it, which makes me anxious sometimes.

    Nice environment to work within, managers can be helpful and the teams are fantastic.

    heat throughout the warehouse is regulated by head office and to what the weather is like where they are not where the store is. Air con doesn't turn on until 26 degree temperatures are hit and will regulate temp back down to 25 which is still way too hot for a building with no windows in the warehouse. during cold weather there are no means of heating in my particular warehouse. Working house can change from week to week with little to no input from the employee about availability, weekend working isn't structured very well, used to be one weekend in one off but has since changed to every weekend in unless booked off.
