As our Support Worker with Young People Services, youll be at the heart of supporting our customers aged 16+ leaving foster care or at risk of homelessness. You will help to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. Youll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations. Typical day as a Lead Support Worker (known by us as Coordinator)

  • We are Ofsted Registered! You will be working within the Ofsted guidance.
  • Creating support plans with your customers and coordinating our small team of Support Workers working to the plans.
  • Customer group aged 16+ leaving care.
  • Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch ups. Theres no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to collaborate with colleagues too.

You bring

  • Passion to support young people to live their best life, working collaboratively with an eye for detail.
  • Experience of creating person-centred support plans and supporting colleagues in working to work to the plans.
  • Experience of coordinating and assessing customer referrals.
  • The ability to workon your own initiative, remaincalm under pressure and havea resilient approach

Our manager isChristina, who is perfectly placed to support you as you join. There are 4of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too!

Job details

  • Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of8am and 10pmand take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!
  • The rota is written in advance and the team is really flexible helping out swapping shifts if needs be so you can manage your work life balance.
  • Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Youll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.

Working with brilliant people does make for such a positive experience, that's why we are 4th best "Great Place to Work" In regards to pay, Home Group has been an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer for over 8 years now. In the last 2 years we have seen some of our lowest paid colleagues receive increases of 10% in Jan 2023 and 10% in March 2024. I appreciate that this may not have impacted you but we do regularly benchmark all salaries to ensure they are competitive. Regards Simone

      I too love the people i wok with, we really are a super friendly and supportive bunch here at Home Group! Holidays are always emotive when you work i a team. I've found compromise and forward planning are key to taking the time you want! With 34 days leave (includes bank hols and a “me day” to use whenever you fancy) increasing to 39, the option to buy 5 more, and time off for volunteering too, there is plenty to go round!

If you need to nip out to walk the dog or do the school run, we’re ok with that! Our leave is generous too, but like you i do have to drag myself away from my screen to get break - i find plenty of tea ensures regular P and screen breaks!
